The Mutes (from mars) are fuelled and powered by A Supported Life, in that the majority of members are flatmates and participants in the ASL community in West Auckland, New Zealand and that organisation facilitates the band through; mentoring, funding for recording, rehearsal facilities and on the road support for gigs.
A Supported Life offers persons with learning disabilities a wide range of support opportunities and residential options in their community.
The organisation is a niche provider in the disability sector, committed to a unique flexible service style that arises from the individuals own aspirations and individual needs.
The core service activity is lifestyle support to persons with a learning disability in shared houses, own flats and other individualised home life options. ASL is committed to a holistic approach to the support of each individual’s life and lifestyle by creating networks and natural supports in their community.
A Supported Life is involved with the lives of 50 plus persons, supported in areas of home management, social and networking skills, community inclusion and connection, employment opportunities and recreation and leisure.
